The DuPont Schedule Calendar lays out the DuPont shift rotation as month calendars, one crew at a time. Choose a crew, set the date Crew A starts its cycle, and the page shows which days each crew works and rests. With an hourly rate and an overtime rule pack, it also estimates paid hours, overtime and gross pay for the months on screen. You can mark sick days, vacation, swaps and pickups, then export the shifts as a calendar file or a CSV. Pay figures are planning estimates, not payroll or legal advice. The page also shows week-by-week hours, so the 36-, 48- and 60-hour weeks of the cycle are visible.

How to use the DuPont Schedule Calendar

  1. Set Schedule to DuPont.
  2. Pick your crew in Crew (A, B, C or D).
  3. Enter the date of day 1 in Crew A starts the cycle on. The other crews are offset automatically.
  4. Choose a month in First month and how many to display in Months to show.
  5. Check Shift times and breaks. The defaults are 07:00-19:00 for days and 19:00-07:00 for nights, with no unpaid break. Change them to match your shifts and the hours update.
  6. Enter your Hourly rate, then select a rule pack under What sets your overtime? The result card shows paid hours, shifts, overtime and estimated gross pay.
  7. Use Find my crew with a shift and a date to see which crew works it.
  8. Tap a day to record what really happened. On a work day, taps cycle through sick, vacation, off and swapped shift. On a day off, a tap marks a picked-up shift. The rotation itself never changes.
  9. Use Download calendar (.ics) for one event per shift, Download CSV for shift-level hours and pay, or Print to print the calendar without the form. Clear my marks removes your entries.

Your marks are stored only in the browser you use, so use the same browser each time you return.

What is a DuPont schedule?

A DuPont schedule is a rotating shift pattern that repeats every 28 days and is worked by four crews. Each crew works 14 of the 28 days, and the crews are staggered so that one of them is on shift at every hour. Plants, hospitals and emergency services that never close are the usual users.

Every shift is 12 hours, either a day or a night. With the default shift times, the tool puts each crew at 42 paid hours per week on average, and every hour of the day is covered by exactly one crew. Rotating through night shifts affects sleep and routine for many people, so check the calendar carefully before you commit.

How does the DuPont schedule work?

Each of the four crews follows the same 28-day sequence, and each crew starts seven days after the one before it. For crew A the cycle opens with four nights and then three rest days. The table below breaks down crew A’s four cycle weeks from Sunday 1 Nov 2026 using 12-hour shifts and FLSA workweeks that run Sunday to Saturday. A night shift that starts on Saturday ends on Sunday, so its last 7 hours belong to the next workweek.

WeekPatternDays workedPaid hoursOvertime (over 40 h)

2DDD O NNN (three days, one off, three nights)665 (7 h move to week 3)25
3OOO DDDD (three off, four days)455 (incl. 7 h from week 2)15
4OOOOOOO (seven off)000
Total1416848

At $30 an hour under the FLSA standard workweek, this gives 120 regular hours and 48 overtime hours at 1.5x, an estimated $5,760.00 gross. Under the FLSA 7(k) fire rule, which sets overtime at hours above 212 in a 28-day period, the same 168 hours produce no overtime and an estimated $5,040.00. Contracts and union agreements can set different terms, so treat both figures as estimates.

More questions

What is the DuPont schedule for 2026?

It is the same 28-day pattern with a 2026 start date. Enter a 2026 date under Crew A starts the cycle on, and the calendars show each crew’s shifts for that year. Over a full year, a crew works about 182.5 shifts and 2,190 paid hours.

Which overtime rule pack should I choose?

Choose the pack that matches how your employer calculates overtime. The tool offers the US federal 40-hour workweek (FLSA), California daily, weekly and 7th-day rules, the California health care 12-hour alternative workweek, FLSA 7(k) fire and police, FLSA 7(j) 8 and 80. For a rule from your own contract or union agreement, use the custom editor in the Overtime Calculator.

The tool cannot tell you whether it is legal, because labor law varies by jurisdiction. Ask an employment lawyer or your labor agency before you change a whole site’s rotation. The pay figures are estimates under the rule pack you pick, not legal or payroll advice.

How this tool works and where the numbers come from

The calendar repeats the rotation from your crew’s start date and counts every shift minute by minute. Overtime and pay are worked out over whole workweeks (or the 7(k) and 7(j) work periods) under the rule pack you pick, following the official texts below. Results are estimates, not legal or payroll advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the DuPont shift schedule?

It is the DuPont rotation described by its shift codes. Crew A’s cycle uses N for 12-hour nights, D for 12-hour days and O for off days, and the calendar shows the code for each day. Other codes in the tool include 8-hour, 9-hour, 10-hour and 24-hour shifts.

Is the DuPont schedule worth it?

That depends on whether your work needs round-the-clock cover and whether you can manage night shifts. Its main benefit is a 7-day block off in every cycle, and half of all weekends are fully off. Compare the pattern numbers in the tool with your own needs before deciding.

What are the pros and cons of the DuPont schedule?

On the plus side, the pattern covers every hour with one crew, gives 50% fully off weekends and includes a 7-day rest block each cycle. The downsides are four consecutive night shifts in week 1 and weeks that reach 72 paid hours. Use the calendar to see how these fall across your months.

Is the DuPont schedule right for your team?

It is built for operations that need someone on duty every hour of the year. It is less suitable if you need fixed daytime hours or no night work. The coverage line in the tool shows whether your shift times leave gaps or overlaps.

How many crews does a DuPont schedule need?

It needs four crews, labelled A to D in the tool. Each crew works 14 of the 28 days, and the four together give continuous 24/7 coverage with the default shift times.

How do I handle holidays with this rotation?

The rotation usually stays the same on holidays because the pattern is built for round-the-clock operations. The calendar underlines US federal public holidays so you can spot them. If a holiday shift is swapped, tap that day to record it without moving the rotation.

How many hours per week is a DuPont schedule?

Spread over the 28 days, each crew is paid for 42 hours a week on average. In a single Monday-Sunday week, the total can range from 0 to 72 hours. For crew A the cycle weeks hold 4, 6, 4 and 0 shifts, so 48, 72, 48 and 0 scheduled hours.

What is the longest break on a DuPont schedule?

The longest break is seven consecutive days off, which falls in Week 4 of the cycle. The longest run of work is four days, followed by seven days off.
